Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council

Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council is the statewide organization for Arkansas Extension Homemakers clubs, a volunteer network connected to the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service. Its work centers on strengthening families and communities through education, leadership development, and service carried out by local clubs, county councils, and district and state activities across Arkansas.

The council’s programming is anchored in Extension Homemakers traditions of community improvement and practical education. Members participate in county, district, and state meetings; support educational work tied to family and consumer topics; and contribute volunteer service in their communities. The organization also maintains a scholarship program for Arkansas students. Its scholarship guidelines identify applicants as Arkansas residents who have completed at least one semester at an accredited Arkansas college or university and who are majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, or a closely related field. The council awards scholarships in the amount of $1,000, with applications handled through county Extension offices and a state deadline set for May 1.
