Fairfield County’s Community Foundation invests in educational opportunity for students connected to Fairfield County, Connecticut. Its Competitive Scholarship Program serves both graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate or graduate students who plan to continue their education at accredited two-year colleges, four-year universities, graduate schools, vocational schools, or specialized study programs. The foundation’s scholarship work is structured around many separate funds that it administers, allowing one application to place students into consideration for multiple awards.
The foundation’s scholarship criteria emphasize both academic achievement and financial need. For graduating seniors, eligibility centers on attendance at any high school in Fairfield County, good academic standing that is generally measured at a cumulative 2.7 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale, demonstrated financial need, and plans for further study. For current undergraduate and graduate students, the program serves applicants who are native residents of Fairfield County, high school graduates from the county, or current county residents, while also recognizing a specific exception for students enrolled at Sacred Heart University who apply for the Megan Cobb & Jason Kern Scholarship. Students may pursue study on a full-time or part-time basis unless a specific fund sets different terms.
