Richard D. McDonough Golf Scholarship Foundation has focused since 1955 on helping young people employed at New Hampshire golf courses continue their education. Its sole mission is to provide scholarships for up to four years to young men and women working at golf courses and clubs across the state, supporting undergraduate study at colleges and universities as well as vocational trade programs at nationally accredited trade institutions. The foundation operates as a volunteer organization and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and it raises money annually to sustain this scholarship work.
The foundation serves a clearly defined community within New Hampshire’s golf industry. Eligible applicants include student employees working in pro shop, grounds, wait, kitchen, and office roles at New Hampshire golf courses or clubs. Candidates must show promise of academic success, demonstrate financial need, and be recommended by the golf club where they are in at least their second full season of employment. Awards may be renewed each year, up to a total of four years, with continued need for financial aid and maintenance of academic standards.
