University of Kaiserslautern refers to the former Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, a public research university in Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. In January 2023 it merged with the University of Koblenz-Landau’s Landau campus to form Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). The Kaiserslautern campus remains a major technical and scientific center within the new university, with teaching and research spanning engineering, natural sciences, computer science, mathematics, architecture, spatial and environmental planning, economics, and social sciences.
Its profile is strongly shaped by technology-oriented study and research. The Kaiserslautern campus hosts departments including Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Process Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, alongside interdisciplinary work in areas such as robotics, digitalization, and sustainability. The institution serves undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students and maintains a close connection to the research landscape in Kaiserslautern, including nearby non-university institutes that contribute to the city’s role as a science and innovation hub in southwestern Germany.
