Fully Funded Scholarships at Richard D. McDonough Golf Scholarship Foundation, New Hampshire 2026
Richard D. McDonough Golf Scholarship Foundation has focused since 1955 on helping young people employed at New Hampshire golf courses continue their education. Its sole mission is to provide scholarships for up to four years to young men and women working at golf courses and clubs across the state, supporting undergraduate study at colleges and universities as well as vocational trade programs at nationally accredited trade institutions. The foundation operates as a volunteer organization and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and it raises money annually to sustain this scholarship work. The foundation serves a clearly defined community within New Hampshire’s golf industry. Eligible applicants include student employees working in pro shop, grounds, wait, kitchen, and office roles at New Hampshire golf courses or clubs. Candidates must show promise of academic success, demonstrate financial need, and be recommended by the golf club where they are in at least their second full season of employment. Awards may be renewed each year, up to a total of four years, with continued need for financial aid and maintenance of academic standards. Its recent scale is substantial. For the 2025-26 academic year, the board of directors awarded $225,010 in scholarships to 98 New Hampshire golf course employees attending college. Those scholars came from 40 country clubs and golf courses throughout the state. In addition to annual fundraising and general contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, golf organizations, and donor-advised funds, the foundation also advances its mission through events and campaigns including its online auction and the Annual McDonough Benefit Golf Tournament. The organization’s work connects New Hampshire golf clubs, donors, and student employees in a statewide effort to expand access to higher education and trade training.
