• This program is open to high school seniors and current undergraduates who are working or planning to work full time on a degree in a field related to petroleum (any branch of engineering, environmental sciences, or earth sciences) at an accredited college or university in any….
• Applicants must be 1 of the following: 1) current residents of California; 2) a child of a current San Joaquin Valley Section member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE);….
• They must submit 2 essays on topics that change annually; recently, they were asked to write on 1) what interests them in a potential career in the petroleum industry; and 2) the pros and cons of the petroleum industry of which they think the public should be more aware.
• Selection is based on those essays, demonstrated commitment to entering the petroleum industry through industry-related majors or work experience, GPA, and extracurricular activities.
• Financial need is not considered.
