Community Foundation of North Central Washington advances philanthropy, scholarships, and community investment across North Central Washington, with offices in Wenatchee and Omak. The foundation’s scholarship program is a major part of that work: it offers more than 150 scholarships through an online application system that matches students to opportunities based on eligibility criteria and any required supplemental questions. Its scholarship calendar is structured around two application cycles, with general scholarships due March 1 and Nursing, Allied Health, and Trade School scholarships due June 1.
The organization uses a competitive review process led by volunteer scholarship selection committees. Applications are evaluated on both academic and nonacademic factors, including financial need, leadership, community service, and special circumstances. Students are expected to submit transcripts, activity information, Student Aid Index data from the FAFSA process, and recommendation contacts, with some scholarship funds requiring as many as three letters of recommendation. Award administration is handled directly with students and schools: recipients are notified by email, complete a scholarship agreement, verify enrollment, and then scholarship payments are sent to the financial aid office of the school they attend.
